IDEM service (IDEntity Management for federated access)

logo UnivAQ e logo Idem-Garr The University of L'Aquila adheres to the IDEM service (IDEntity Management for federated access), the authorization and authentication infrastructure of the GARR network.

IDEM

IDEM is the first Italian National Federation of Authentication and Authorization infrastructures (AAI). It enables users of the national scientific and academic community to access more easily to online services and content, made available by different organizations.

Membership to IDEM offers to the users of the University of L'Aquila the advantage of using only their institutional credentials to access all the resources available through the Federation.

By becoming a member of the Federation, the University also has the opportunity to reduce the costs of managing users and creating new services, exercising greater control over the authentication and authorization processes.

Within the IDEM Federation, GARR acts as coordinator providing the central infrastructure and services and signing the Membership Contracts.

List of available services

The list of available services is accessible at the link: https://www.idem.garr.it.

The services reachable through the Federation are made available by IDEM members and partners. The system, at each request for access to services, to allow the service provider to identify the correct authorization profile, will provide the owner of the specific service the following information:

  • name and surname of the user;
  • email address;
  • anonymous, persistent, non-reassignable user ID (a string automatically generated by the system that does not contain user information);
  • information about the affiliation of the user with the organization to which he belongs (consists of a macro-profile of the user, for example Student, Member, Staff, Affiliate, Alumn ...).

The service is intended for all users of the University.

For credentials and authentication problems, please contact the Networks, ICT Security and Digital Identity Sector at the e-mail address: apm (at) cc.univaq.it
