Alpine Botanical Garden

The University manages the Alpine Botanical Garden of Campo Imperatore situated at an altitude of 2117 meters and set in the heart of the Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains National Park. Founded in 1952 by the botanist Vincenzo Rivera to cultivate and study the most important flora found on the Italian Gran Sasso Massif, today it represents an important element of our national heritage and is a much appreciated asset within the cultural and natural scenario of our region. The Garden is one of a kind in Abruzzo and in the entire Apennine area, especially due to the high altitude and geographical position allowing to cultivate flora of scientific interest.
