Cybersecurity at UnivAQ

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Average total time to read instructions and activate the MFA service: 5 minutes

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security method that requires multiple verification elements to access a website, application, or system. This adds an extra layer of protection beyond the usual username and password, especially when these are no longer sufficient to ensure account security. Even a strong password can be compromised, leading to identity theft and unauthorized access to sensitive information.

MFA at UnivAQ

To enhance security for accessing UnivAQ services, MFA has been implemented for various services, including:

  • University e-mail access
  • Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Titulus protocol access
  • Agenda2030 dematerialization platform
  • ESSE3 exam management
  • Classroom booking and management
  • Cartesio procedure management
  • OpenData portal
  • Online exam portal
  • Moodle
  • Student attendance
  • Secretariat services (SAD), faculty, and staff
  • EZProxy for accessing university electronic resources
  • SafetySuite prevention and protection area

Accessing services with MFA requires entering a temporary code immediately after entering the username and password. To receive the temporary code, you can use:

  • The Microsoft Authenticator app, available for free on all Android and iOS smartphones (recommended solution);
  • A third-party authentication app for mobile devices (e.g., Google Authenticator for Android and iOS), a browser extension (e.g., https://authenticator.cc), or any other mobile/desktop application compatible with the TOTP standard;
  • A mobile phone number, personal or business, to receive the temporary code via SMS or a phone call.

From March 12, 2025, MFA is mandatory for all UnivAQ users. For those who have not configured MFA before this date, the configuration must be done at the first access to UnivAQ services affected by MFA and previously listed.
The mandatory MFA configuration procedure (with reference to the Microsoft Authenticator app) is available in the document: MFA Configuration UnivAQ.
For those who wish to configure the browser extension as an additional access method, detailed instructions can be found in the MFA activation procedure with browser extension.
