The University of L’Aquila Foundation was established in 2005. It is a non-profit foundation organized and operated for the benefit of the university by supporting teaching and scientific-technological research with particular regard for the following activities:
- Promotion and financial support of teaching, training and research activities also by creating necessary structures
- Promoting and carrying out activities to integrate and aid teaching and research
- Implementing services and initiatives to improve study conditions and support scientific and research activities
- Promoting and supporting scientific and cultural cooperation with national and international institutions
- Creating and managing university buildings and other service structures to support institutional activities
- Promoting and carrying out initiatives to support the transfer of research findings, the creation of new business ventures deriving from research results also by enhancing economic value to findings also through patent protection
- Supporting internships and other training activities including distance learning
