Students enrolling for the first time or in their successive years of a degree course (Bachelor's, Master's or single-cycle Master's), are required to pay a sum that includes both enrolment fee, and annual tuition fees determined by the University's Board of Administration on a yearly basis.

How much do tuition fees amount to and when must I pay them?

The amount a student has to pay depends on the following factors:

  • The financial situation and income bracket of the student's family (the "ISEE Università" form - economic equivalency indicator - can be provided by any Tax Assistance Centre, CAF or Italian Social Security Office, INPS)
  • In order to ensure that disabled students can fully take part in all aspects of university life, a number of benefits are provided for them upon request: exemption from the total amount of tuition fees for students with permanent certified disability (equal or more than 66%) irrespective of income or merit; reductions on their second instalment payment for students with a permanent certified disability ranging from 33% to 65%

Tuition fees for AY 2016-2017 are outlined below:

First instalment

Ministry of Education, University and Research enrolment fee

€ 201,58

Tuition fee

€ 100,42

Regional tax € 140,00
Virtual stamp duty € 16,00

Total first instalment

€ 458,00

Second instalment

Income bracket

University ISEE (economic equivalency indicator)

Amount due

€ 100,00

€ 850,00

You may be eligible for a reduction on the second instalment if you meet the requirements indicated in “Tasse e contributi universitari” (available in Italian). This document also provides information on further exemptions for students whose families face particular difficulties.

The first instalment amounts to €458,00 (enrolment fee + regional tax + stamp duty) and must be paid when you enrol for AY 2016/2017, by 31st October 2016.

Second instalment payments are to be made as follows:

  • For a second instalment fee of € 300,00 or less you must make a single payment by 31st March 2017
  • For a second instalment fee of more than € 300,00 you will be required to make the payment in two tranches: the first half of the amount by 31st March 2017 and the second half of the amount by 31st May 2017

If you enrol for your first, or successive years, after the 31.10.2016 deadline you must pay a late-enrolment fee of € 52,00.

Foreign students

Students from "extremely poor countries" are required to pay only the € 140,00 regional tax and the € 16,00 stamp duty.

Students from "poor countries" will be required to follow the following payment outline:

  • For first year enrolment: € 140,00 regional tax and € 16,00 stamp duty
  • For successive years: a € 240,00 fixed tuition fee plus € 140,00 regional tax and € 16,00 stamp duty. This sum may be further reduced according to the number of university credits earned by 10th August following the criteria established for all students

Lists of "extremely poor" and "poor" countries are annually issued by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research through a Ministerial Decree and published in our “Tasse e contributi universitari” document.

Foreign students from these countries may be exempt from all fees if deemed eligible for other reductions or exemptions.

For foreign students from countries not included in there lists, tuition and taxes are the same as those applied to Italian students.
